Simple Woman’s Daybook

Outside my window… sunny and 61F, after a day of fog and a night of rain Just took a walk and was surprised how warm it felt.

I am thinking… about a lot of things: altruism/selfishness, war, politics/democracy, taking offense, anger, mortality and Creation, uncertainty and anxiety, risk and reward, elitism, fear and fear-mongering, etc.

I am thankful for… friends, art, food

From the kitchen… readying to make cranberry-streusel coffee cake

I am wearing… jeans, purple quarter-zip nylon top, red velour jacket, brown Smartwool socks

I am creating… a oppressive backlog of articles and essays to blog about

I am going… a little stir-crazy from not gardening, and it’s only going to get worse…

I am reading … Geraldine Brooks’ The Year of Wonders for bookgroup (halfway through) and Louise Penny’s latest, Bury Your Dead (2010)

I am hoping… we can find a good kennel for the dog for two weeks over Christmas and New Years… We have been visiting some but still haven’t found the one for her.

I am hearing… dog licking, toilet flushing, spouse footfalls on carpetnow dog barking and growling menacingly at alpacas

Around the house… just put laundry away, still need to beautify front entrance and sunroom but haven’t really made any movement towards doing so yet

One of my favorite things … train travel

A few plans for the rest of the week … to Bath for a couple days this week, then with T and G to VT for weekend trip, and maybe a trip in Nov. to NYC for a weekend to see friends (the T’giving trip is not going to work)

Here is a picture thought I am sharing…
